So, we get to Tampa and my brother is not at home. But no worries. He told me he had a business meeting earlier and traffic in Tampa is nothing like I have ever seen! My bother is a professional photographer with Encore Productions so he stays busy! He had a shoot that evening. But, we spent the night so we could hang out the next day. What did we do? Check out the next post!
Today we are going to Dinosaur World located at 5145 Harvey Tew Road, Plant City, FL. The grands are excited about going and I must admit I am too. I pass this attraction every time I go from Orlando to my bother's house in Tampa.
The attraction was amazing! They have over 150 dinosaurs on display. And they have information on each one. I think I took photos of all of them..lol. Zaylen and Zahria did a fossil dig and got to keep three of their finds. It was fun watching them sift in the sand to find fossils. After exploring the complex, we had lunch there on site. They have so many places to sit and enjoy you meal. There are lunch tables everywhere throughout the exhibits. There are no places to purchase food there so make sure you pack your lunch and enjoy it together while there. Upon arrival and when departing, you have to go through a gift ship. So you are almost certain to take a souvenir home from your adventure. After lunch, we visited the on-site museum. There were bones from different animals found in Florida on display. There were no dinosaur bones found in Florida because, according to the information, when dinos roamed the earth, Florida was under water! The museum had 4-5 animated dinosaurs with sound. Zahria was a little fearful but we assured her they were not going to harm her. After grabbing a few souvenirs, we were on our way to Tampa (20 minutes away) to see my brother Hampton. Last night, my daughter Kayesha, her husband Boris, their two children Zaylen (4) and Zahria (3) and Boris's mother Peggy and I left North Carolina headed for Orlando, Florida. We will be spending a week between Orlando and Tampa, Fl. For most of the time, we will be at the Palisades Resort in Winter Garden, FL. We also plan to visit my brother Hampton in Tampa and visit the Disney Parks while here. So, after this vacation, I will need another vacation to recoup from this one!
At the Palisades, we have a 3 bedroom, two bathroom unit. The resort was easy to find and is actually right off of Irlo Bronson Hwy. So it is convenient to shops, restaurants, theme parks and more. I was told it is not actually in Winter Garden, but since I know nothing about where towns are located in Florida, I just put in the address and let the GPS do the guiding. We arrived safely but very early. So, of course, our accommodations were not ready. We were there around 11am and check in is at 4pm. We were tired after being up all night but could not complain because we knew what time check-in was before leaving home. We were going to go exploring but the wonderful desk clerk told us there was a small theater we could take the children to and we could choose from the movies they had or supply our own for them to watch. That was such a nice touch. Something for the children to do while we waited for the "room" to get cleaned. There was no popcorn but we had our own snacks so it worked out great. We even had enough to share with other children who were there. Before we could finish watching the movie with the kids, our accommodations were ready. Our three bedroom unit consisted of a king master suite, a queen bedroom and the third bedroom has two twin beds. We also have a full kitchen, dining area, a living room and a screened in balcony with three ways to access it (through the master bedroom, through the living room and through the bedroom with the two twin beds. The unit was clean and spacious. The tv's were smaller that I expected, but we weren't there to watch tv! After we got settled in, we ordered dinner from Boardwalk Brothers Wings, Burgers and Fries. The food is highly recommended while you are in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. After we ate, we were so tired, everyone retreated to his/her respective bedroom and knocked out! All I remember is lying down. |
